The Radpole SOT Kit is a lightweight, marine-grade aluminum, multi-purpose gear pole for the sit-on-top (SOT) kayak, including a Tektite waterproof 360° navigation light visible at 2 miles, a RAM Mounts camera adaptor and a RAM Mounts video camera adaptor. This Radpole SOT Kit is specially priced for SOT decks with one or more RAM Mounts aluminum "C" balls already installed. The base and base mounting hardware is not included with this package as it is with our Radpole Expedition Kit.
The Radpole SOT Kit is built to withstand active use in fresh and saltwater, night navigation, paddling or push poling through branches, surfing, flipping and watersports requiring a gear mount with strength and flexibility.
The Radpole's arm is constructed of a lightweight aluminum RAM Mounts 1.5-inch "C" ball lower coupler, a lightweight aluminum tube and a lightweight aluminum RAM Mounts 1-inch "B" ball upper coupler. The arm's ball-and-socket design provides precision positioning, allows the arm to swing flush with the kayak or away from the kayak, and enables the Radpole to be removed from the base with a single hand.
The Radpole arm included with this kit stands 31" tall from the bottom of the base to the platform of its camera mount adaptor.
The Radpole coupled with a Tektite Mark III meets U. S. Coast Guard and all USA inland regulations for kayak navigation lighting. The Mark III is visible at 2-miles, submersible to 1000 feet (300 m) and operates for 200 hours on 3 AA batteries.
The RAM Mounts video and camera adaptors included with this Radpole each sport a stainless steel 1/4"-20 tripod stud compatible with any camera accepting a standard tripod screw. The adaptors are fitted with EPDM and SBR rubber pads to prevent abrasion when mated to your camera or other device.
Because the Radpole arm accepts any RAM "B" ball compatible cradle, you can mount your existing GPS, fishfinder, waterproof Aqua Box or any other 1-inch ball cradle. You can customize the arm to use as an outrigger, fishfinder transducer arm, underwater cam, mike boom, sun or windscreen — any use requiring a long arm with strength and multiple degrees of freedom for maximum flexibility.
